We've made millions of robes and towels from our Orange County, California studio, so we know how each fabric actually behaves — on the body, in the wash, and under embroidery. Here's the honest breakdown.
The two robe fabrics we make
| Waffle weave | Plush | |
|---|---|---|
| Material | 60% cotton / 40% polyester | 100% polyester |
| Feel | Light, textured, breathable | Thick, soft, warm |
| Dries | Fast | Slower, holds warmth |
| Best for | Year-round, warm climates, post-shower | Cold rooms, winter lounging |
What "waffle weave" actually is
Waffle is a textured weave (the little squares) that traps air, so it feels light but warms quickly and dries fast. Our 60/40 cotton-poly blend gives you the breathability of cotton with the durability and quick-dry of polyester — and it takes a crisp, clean monogram.
What "plush" is
Plush is a soft, brushed 100% polyester — the thick, cozy, hotel-robe feel. It's the warmest option and holds a bold, raised embroidery.
And towels?
Our towels are 100% cotton for maximum absorbency — a different job than a robe.
How to choose
Run warm or want a light spa feel? Waffle. Want maximum cozy warmth? Plush. There's no wrong answer — it's about how they like to feel.
Frequently asked questions
Are Lotus robes cotton? Waffle robes are a 60% cotton / 40% polyester blend; plush robes are 100% polyester; towels are 100% cotton.
Which is warmer? Plush. Which dries faster? Waffle.
Which is better for embroidery? Both take it well — waffle gives a crisp monogram, plush a bolder raised one.
